First-ever US Cyber Command hunt forward exercise in Latin America held

The U.S. Cyber Command has conducted its first-ever hunt forward mission in a Central or South American nation with Special Assistant to Director Air National Guard for U.S. Cyber Command J5 Brig. Gen. Reid Novotny noting the deployment of a defensive operator team in the U.S. Southern Command, reports DefenseScoop. With the new mission, Novotny has touted that hunt forward operations have already been conducted by the Cyber Command across all continents, with more nations inviting the command for such operations. While Novotny did not specify the country where the operations have been held, the U.S. Southern Command covers 31 countries and 12 dependencies across Latin America and the Caribbean Sea. No details have been provided regarding the deployment dates. "By policy and for operational security, we do not discuss cyber operations, plans, or intelligence. U.S. CYBERCOM prioritizes partnerships. No defend forward operation is publicly disclosed without the partner nations consent," said a Cyber National Mission Force spokesperson.
