Inadequate Navy readiness prompts Cyber Mission Force expansion changes

The U.S. Cyber Command has decided to reshuffle its efforts to expand its Cyber Mission Force after the Navy was discovered to have lacking cybersecurity readiness, according to The Record, a news site by cybersecurity firm Recorded Future. Officials close to the matter noted that under the rearrangement, the Navy's four new teams originally meant to be additional cyber fighters would be designated to provide more extensive training to the Navy's existing digital personnel. "There's a force structure associated with each of the teams based on unique skill sets and job codes that have to reside within each mission team and, in some instances, we didn't have as many as we needed. As opposed to initially complying to the requirement that we increase to have four new teams our strategy is to work on the readiness side of what we're doing before we commit to additional capacity or our ability to create that additional capacity," said Navy Principal Cyber Adviser Chris Cleary.
