Survey finds rise in cloud security spending

A recent report by Forrester found that organizations spending on cloud migration and related security solutions continues to increase, with the strongest growth seen among companies that devote 20% or less of their budget on cloud security spending, according to VentureBeat. Forrester noted that infrastructure execs are saying they have already migrated 45% of their applications to a public cloud and 58% expect to have moved within the next two years. However, its survey indicated that most security and risk management professionals believe they are lagging in their public cloud migration efforts. Meanwhile, on-premises security software remains the largest expense on enterprises security budgets, as it was found to be an investment target for 41% of enterprises that spend less than 20% on security and for 38% of companies whose security spending account for more than 20% of their IT budget, according to Forrester. In its guide, Forrester pointed to software supply chain security, extended detection and response, attack surface management and privacy-preserving technologies among emerging security technologies that are worth exploring.
