A Denver company today offered $10,000 for information leading to the recovery of a stolen PC containing a government database with the personal information of 1.4 million Colorado citizens.
Police said on Sunday that they are currently questioning an unnamed employee of Affiliated Computer Services (ACS) in connection with the theft of the computer. As a third-party vendor supporting the state's Department of Human Services, ACS maintains key databases containing information on child-support payers and recipients as well as state personnel.
The theft occurred last month after hours. ACS representatives say the company is in the process of notifying those affected by the breach.
In the meantime, the Denver office of the FBI set up a telephone tipline for those who may have information about the crime.
