Commerce Bank employee exposes customer data

A Commerce Bancorp employee leaked personal information on an unknown number of customers. It is not clear how or whether the exposure was accidental or intentional.

What kind of personal information? Account and Social Security numbers.

What was the response? The bank, headquartered in Cherry Hill, N.J., sent letters to affected customers. Officials are investigating and cooperating with authorities. The bank is offering victims a free year of credit monitoring services.

Detals: The bank is unsure if the information has been misused.
