Company news: A new CEO at Ipanema and Windward IT Solutions new addition

» Jim Darragh (left) has joined Ipanema Technologies, a Waltham, Mass.-based application performance solutions firm, as chief executive officer. He brings more than 20 years of experience with him, having served as the CEO of Zeus Technology, an application traffic management company based in the U.K., and as senior vice president at Riverbed Technology, a San Francisco-based IT performance firm that acquired Zeus Technology in 2011.

» Michael Oberlaender, a former CSO for Germany-based cable network provider Kabel Deutschland and past CISO at FMC Technologies, a Houston-based technology solutions provider, has authored and released a book geared toward professionals in executive level security roles. The book,
C(I)SO – And Now What?: How to Successfully Build Security by Design, includes guidance on incident response, development of security policies and awareness programs, and tips on asset management and audit and risk management practices for CISOs and CSOs, among other topics.

» CrowdStrike, an Irvine, Calif.-based firm that focuses on identifying and preventing advanced threats, has secured $30 million led by investment company Accel Partners and Warburg Pincus, a private equity firm. With the financing, CrowdStrike can support innovation in Big Data analytics and security intelligence solutions. Founded in 2011, the firm currently tracks threat actors around the world, including state-sponsored adversaries, through its global intelligence team.

» John Scott (left) has joined Windward IT Solutions, a Herndon, Va.-based firm that provides IT operations, infrastructure and service management solutions, as vice president of strategic development. In the role, Scott will manage corporate strategy, and support sales operations and product development initiatives at the company. Prior to this position, he served as vice president of emerging technologies at CRGT, a federal IT services company based in Reston, Va.

» F5 Networks has acquired Versafe, a Tel-Aviv, Israel-based online fraud and malware detection firm. With the deal, Seattle-based security firm F5 Networks expands its existing security solutions with Versafe's real-time threat detection technologies for online and mobile environments. Together, the firms plan to enhance protection offerings against malware, man-in-the-middle attacks, phishing ruses and fraud. 

» Tangible Software has acquired N2 Net Security, a Cary, N.C.-based security firm that specializes in penetration testing, SIEM implementation, PCI compliance and security solutions development. With the deal, Bethesda, Md.-based Tangible Software, which focuses on security solutions for clients in the government sector, and N2 Net Security will expand their offerings in the federal government and commercial market space.
