InterContinental Confirms Payment Card Breach

By Marcos Colon

On Friday the company issued a press statement confirming a data breach from payment cards used at 12 of its U.S. hotels, according to a Reuters report.

Malware in the company’s servers scoured the system for payment card data – including cardholder names, card numbers, expiration dates and verification codes – of payment cards used between August and December 2016. Any cards used at the bars and restaurants of the 12 hotels may have been compromised, according to the statement.

InterContinental has not shared the total number of cards impacted, or if any data has been compromised.
