Rising Star – Barbara De Lury

Category: Rising Star

Name: Barbara De Lury

Title: Vice President of Engineering

Company: Prevoty

Why nominated: Barbara De Lury leads a team of engineers who have developed the most advanced and mature runtime application self-protection (RASP) technologies available, released the first completely autonomous RASP solution ever developed, spearheaded the practical application of Language-theoretic security to AppSec use cases, and augmented the security industry's approach to application security from vulnerability management to runtime monitoring and real attack protection.

Profile: De Lury started out by earning a BS degree in computer science from Loyola of Marymount University before moving on the Library of Congress, OpenHouse and Plus Capital. She then co-founded GDO Technologies before landing her current role at Prevoty.

At Prevoty, De Lury leads the team of Prevoty engineers who are innovating AppSec solutions that protect legacy, modern, and future applications in production by monitoring real attack data at runtime with real-time context and situational awareness. This is particularly important work, as over the past decade, applications have become the number-one attack vector of major breaches. They are prime targets for cyberattacks because they are access points to jackpots of personally identifiable information, financial information, and other critical data.

Other areas of interest in cybersecurity have included data driven systems and analytics infrastructures at scale; sysops and devops automation; geospatially aware software and systems; semantic search, distributed intellectual property rights management; and digital collections preservation, management, access and distribution.

What colleagues say: “Barbara is a key contributor to our vision for market expansion and innovation in the application security space. She sets the bar as far as industry veterans and innovative entrepreneurs with unmatched security expertise who will help our customers overcome their application security challenges.”
