WebAgain

WebAgain detects unauthorized changes made to web sites and can automatically restore altered web pages. It works with all popular web publishing software.

WebAgain consists of two components: the WebAgain Server and the WebAgain Administrator. WebAgain Server runs only on Windows NT/2000/XP, while WebAgain runs on Windows 98/ Me as well as NT/2000 and XP. Both can be installed on the same machine, which does not have to be the machine hosting the web site, or they can be installed on separate machines. WebAgain Server communicates with the live web server by FTP, which allows it to check and restore web content remotely, and means that it is effectively independent of the operating system that the web server is running.

WebAgain can support multiple web servers, including mirror sites, etc. In this way, it can use FTP to republish restored content to multiple web sites as soon as any unauthorized changes are detected. It makes copies of all content that has been subject to unauthorized changes and places them in a quarantine area before replacing it with the restored content.

Installation is particularly easy as WebAgain uses its Manage Web Sites Wizard to lead you through the configuration process. You can set up multiple web site scanning schedules, so that critical pages are scanned more frequently than less important content, for example. When WebAgain detects and repairs changes, it can send notifications via administrator software, email or SNMP.

WebAgain's own internal security is very good. You can limit access to its own FTP server and remote administration by password, network card bindings, port and connection IP address. There is also an archive facility that records all web site revisions and enables you to roll back to an earlier version .

All WebAgain program events are recorded in a log file - this includes all FTP activity and indicates when web page changes are detected and automated repairs made. All events are prioritized to indicate if they are serious or not, and if further action may be required.

A really nice feature of WebAgain is its ability to create a 'Rescue Kit,' which places a complete copy of your web site on a backup disk to facilitate off-site storage. This contains everything necessary to restore your web site.
