»ControlPath, provider of automated compliance management solutions, has named Christopher Poelma as its new CEO. The 20-year technology veteran previously served as president, chairman and CEO of Comprehensive Software Systems, a financial securities processing software firm. Poelma's goals at ControlPath include driving new thinking surrounding compliance management best practices.

Lofty Perch, provider of network security management, has appointed Mark Fabro as chief security scientist and vice president of professional services. Prior to joining, Fabro worked for the security and identity management practice at technology consulting firm BearingPoint. Fabro will lend his knowledge of national cybersecurity and critical infrastructure protection while at Lofty Perch.

Taher Elgamal has been hired as the CTO of Tumbleweed Communications, provider of email and file transfer security. Elgamal, who created the Digital Signature Standard (DSS) for the U.S. government, will be responsible for engineering and research and development. He previously served as chairman and CEO of application software provider Ektasis.

IronPort Systems, an email and web security provider, has acquired enterprise email encryption firm PostX. IronPort will sell and market the encryption technology, called PostX Secure Envelope, to its 350 million users worldwide. Various companies, including banks and credit card companies, have deployed PostX technology.

VASCO Data Security, provider of strong authentication solutions, has acquired Able, a Belgium-based unified threat management firm, for $6.3 million. VASCO officials believe the purchase will enhance the scalability of the company's appliance solution and enhance its presence in the small-to-medium-size enterprise space.

Authentication providers Entrust and Verisign have submitted a proposal for the creation of a collaborative fraud intelligence network, which would be vendor-neutral and allow member organizations to share new fraud patterns. The two companies have proposed the new standard to the Internet Engineering Task Force.

Shavlik Technologies, provider of enterprise vulnerability management software and services, has named Chris Schwartzbauer head of worldwide field operations, which includes sales and marketing. He has served as vice president of worldwide sales since last year and will now be responsible for leading marketing strategy, corporate positioning, public relations and advertising.

Mathon Systems, provider of software to audit the lifespan of electronic documents, has partnered with Google to incorporate the search giant's technology into its risk management solution. The Mathon product will extend the Google Search Appliance to allow for the discovery of critical information required for litigation and compliance.
