FireEye, a network access control (NAC) vendor, has launched. The Menlo Park, Calif.,-based company is entering the growing NAC space with patent-pending technology designed to examine suspicious network traffic inside a virtual environment. FireEye, which has secured $6.45 million in Series A venture funding, was founded by Ashar Aziz, former CTO of Sun Microsystems N1 products.

AttachmateWRQ, a provider of access and integration software for legacy systems, has agreed to acquire NetIQ.

The provider of integrated systems and security management solutions no longer will be publicly traded, instead operating as an AttachmateWRQ business unit. Together, the two companies serve more than 40,000 customers in more than 60 countries. The transaction, valued at $495 million, is expected to close by the end of July.

RSA Security has acquired PassMark Security, a leader in online banking authentication, for $44.7 million. As a result, RSA expects to earn up to $15 million more in 2007. PassMark is known for its Two-Factor Two-Way solution, which validates users though a password and the computer they use to logon, while also authenticating the banking site they are using.
