Verizon Business, the telecommunication operator's new division aimed at business solutions, has officially opened in 75 countries. Formed out of Verizon Communication's January merger with MCI, the new unit provides communications and IT solutions for large business and government agencies. It offers new integrated wireless and wired network access products.

Comodo has announced it will provide free identity and trust assurance solutions for more than 3,000 nonprofit organizations so they can avoid website data theft and online fraud. The initiative comes as nonprofit groups are increasingly

Tokyo Electron and SenSage have partnered to produce a new compliance package. With the rise in compliance requirements, the Japanese security provider will begin selling SenSage's enterprise analytics solutions. The products will enable companies to monitor and analyze security data.

MagiQ Technologies has announced a joint venture to
commercialize diamond encrusted single photon sources, a major
component of quantum cryptography systems. The Victoria government of Australia has awarded $2.5 million toward the creation of devices capable of producing single photons to store and transfer information with impenetrable encryption.

In-Q-Tel, a private, not-for-profit, independent venture group established by the Central Intelligence Agency, named Amit Yoran its new president and CEO. In 2003, Yoran served as director of the National Cyber Security Division at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He spent the past year working with firms to develop security strategies.
