SC World Congress: Ready to roll

The security industry's most anticipated event is taking place next month in New York. At the third annual SC World Congress, not only will attendees learn about the emerging risks security professionals face, but they will walk away with technical tips and practical documents and templates that they can immediately apply to their organization. In addition, a bustling expo floor will provide access to a diversity of products and services from leading vendors that can help practitioners protect their organization from hackers, disgruntled employees and other security risks.

But don't just take our word for it. “Better understanding of the constantly evolving threats we face in cyberspace is a must for effective information security,” says Mustaque Ahamad, professor at the College of Computing at Georgia Tech, who will be speaking at the event.

“SC World Congress is a great opportunity for security professionals to learn about such threats and how best to mitigate them in their IT environments.”

Along with four keynotes and dozens of sessions organized into four tracks, the Security Innovators Throwdown returns for a second year. During this competition, a number of leading young companies present their goals for a newly developed information security technology or service to a panel of expert judges, attempting to convince our panel that it has the most robust business plan and tools to attract buyer interest and financial investment. The judges assess, critique and pronounce winners.

“All gatherings promote the free flow of information of those participating,” says Douglas Concepcion, network infrastructure/security specialist for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), who also will be speaking. “SC World Congress offers a gathering of industry leading professionals, which will promote the sharing of knowledge either through direct contact or by osmosis.”
