Name: Brian Dye

Title: Executive Vice President, Corporate Products, McAfee

Company: McAfee

Why nominated: Leveraging his vast experience in digital threats and information protection., Brian Dye played an integral role in the transitioning of Intel Security Group's McAfee division into its own separate company. Moreover, Dye has been serving in the forefront of two leading areas of cybersecurity: automation and threat sharing.

Profile: As McAfee spun off from Intel Security into its own standalone company in 2017, Brian Dye, EVP of Corporate Products at McAfee, played a vital role, leading a global team of 2,300 cybersecurity engineers at the newly established company.

Dye now finds himself at the forefront of two key areas of cybersecurity – automation and threat sharing – as his team works to develop integrated platforms, automated workflows and orchestrated systems. Such tools are intended to address the talent shortage in cybersecurity, making it easier and more efficient for customers to manage their programs.

Additionally, Dye is helping foster collaboration between the public and private sectors through McAfee technologies, partner initiatives, and threat-sharing programs such as the McAfee Data Exchange Layer (DXL) system, the Strategic Innovation Alliance, the Cyber Threat Alliance, and No More Ransom!

A veteran of the security industry, joined McAfee (then Intel Security) in 2015 from Citrix Systems Inc., where he served as vice president of the Mobile Platforms Group and managed the teams responsible for the company's enterprise mobility business.

Before that, Dye spent more than a decade at Symantec Corporation, culminating in his stint as senior vice president of the Information Security Group. In that role, he led product management, engineering, support, and operations for Symantec's gateway security, data center security, data loss prevention, trust services, and managed security services businesses.

During his time at Symantec, Dye also held senior management positions in the Information Intelligence Group, Information Management Group, Enterprise Security Group, Information Risk Management Group, and Data Center Management Group.

What colleagues say: “Brian has been an indefatigable warrior in the war against cyberthreats in Silicon Valley for 20 years. In such companies as McAfee, Intel Security, Citrix, and Symantec, he has grown with the cybersecurity industry and is constantly coming up with ideas to meet new challenges. Beyond that, he is just a nice guy. Everyone who has worked with him or for him agree he has a sense of equanimity and persistence, as well as politeness, which is unsurpassed.”
