One state goes to SafeBoot

October 8, 2007
SafeBoot’s encryption technology got a vote of confidence from the state of Connecticut, as the Fairfax, Va.,- and Naples, Fla.-based company was chosen to encrypt data on state laptops.

The decision follows news of a state laptop lost in August, exposing the personal information of 10,000 state residents.

State BlackBerry devices are also required to have passwords.

SafeBoot was picked by officials from the state Department of Information Technology and an interagency working group of 24 technology experts from a dozen agencies, according to this Hartford Courant report picked up by Long Island’s Newsday.
