Apple’s iOS 7.0.3 addresses more passcode bypass flaws

In the wake of Apple announcing new iPads, Macbooks and Mac Pros, users may have overlooked that this week the technology giant also pushed out iOS 7.0.3 for mobile devices.

The most notable fixes are to a few lock screen passcode bypass issues that allow users with physical access to an iPhone or iPad to make calls to any phone number, to guess an infinite number of passcodes without being locked out of the device, and to be able to access and call anyone saved in the contacts app.

Apple's previous mobile updates included patches to workarounds that were disclosed by iOS penetrators.

This latest update also adds iCloud Keychain to keep track of account names, passwords and credit card numbers across all approved devices, as well as adds a password generator that allows Safari to suggest passwords that are more challenging for intruders to guess.

Additionally, iOS 7.0.3 fixes issues where iMessage was failing to activate or failing to send altogether, as well as improving system stability when using iWork apps.

Casual users may find that the biggest difference is aesthetic. After complaints that some of the new visuals and animations were causing motion sickness, the latest iOS update enhances the Reduce Motion setting to create a more static interface.
