Google and Bertelsmann will fund 10,000 Android Developer scholarships in the EU as part of a program meant to boost digital skills among potential workers.

Of the scholarships, 9,000 will be for a course in the basics of developing Android apps, while the remainder will be put toward the Associate Android Developer Fast Track, which leads to developer certification.

The courses will be offered by Udacity, an e-learning platform. Application deadline is Dec. 18 with scholarship winners being announced on Jan. 5.
