The California Medical Assistance Program (Medi-Cal) accidentally posted online the sensitive information of several thousand individuals.
How many victims? Nearly 14,000.
What type of personal information? Names, addresses, Social Security numbers and information about patients' care.
What happened? Last month, Medi-Cal, a Medicaid welfare program for California, posted personally identifiable information belonging to its In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) providers on its website.
What was the response? Medi-Cal notified customers and will provide free credit-monitoring services to those affected.
Details: Those affected were located throughout 25 counties in California. The information was exposed for nine days before it was taken down on Nov. 14.
