»San Francisco-based cybersecurity firm Bugcrowd raised $15 million in Series B funding led by Blackbird Ventures. Rally Ventures, Industry Ventures, Costanoa Venture Capital and Paladin Capital Group also participated in the round, in addition to a new investor, Salesforce Ventures. Bugcrowd has raised a total of $24 million and the additional funds will be used to accelerate customer growth, engineering, research and development efforts.

»U.K.-based investment bank Cantor Fitzgerald Europe announced it has appointed technology research analyst Kevin Ashton (left) to the firm. Ashton has covered the tech sector since the late 90s and will provide insight to the firm's corporate and institutional clients. Prior, Ashton, was a research director for Ruffer LLP and has led a number of technology research teams for various firms including, Canaccord GenuityBridgewell Securities and Deutsche Bank.

»Israel-based startup Karamba Security raised $2.5 million in seed funding from YL Ventures and GlenRock. The company builds electronic control units (ECU) endpoint solutions to protect externally connected components on connected automobiles. The funds will go toward the development of technology that will protect connected automobiles. 

»Werner Dittmann will join the advisory board of the Canada-based mobile security firm SecureCom. He will be responsible for consulting with the SecureCom Mobile advisory board for telecommunication technologies, design of telecommunication systems and the specific requirements with respect to resource availability, operations and management. Prior, Dittmann was a consultant to the Geneva-based encrypted communications firm Silent Circle. He also held positions at Siemens AG and Nokia Siemens Networks.

»Heather Howland (left) will join San Francisco-based security firm Preempt Security as the new vice president in marketing. Howland will be responsible for building the company's marketing strategy. Howland has more than 20 years of experience in enterprise technology marketing. Prior to this position, she served as the vice president of marketing for Lacoon Mobile Security where she helped position the company for a successful acquisition by a major tech firm. Preempt also announced that it raised $8 million in Series A funding that will go toward developing new security solutions. 

»Google, Uber, Lyft, Ford and Volvo joined forces to create the Self-Driving Coalition for Safer Streets to lobby for federal action to help bring self-driving cars to the market. The coalition will work with lawmakers, regulators and the public to help raise awareness of the safety of connected automobiles and to help develop best practices to ensure the security of connected systems. David Strickland, former administrator for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), who issued the first-ever automated vehicle policy during his tenure, will serve as the coalition's counsel and spokesperson. 

»Multinational technology firm Oracle has acquired the Australia-based cloud service firm Textura in a transaction valued at approximately $663 million. The two companies will form the Oracle Engineering and Construction Global Business Unit which will offer a cloud-based project control and execution platform to manage engineering and construction projects.
