Chipotle Warns Customers of Possible Payment System Hack

By Marcos Colon

A security incident report has been issued by Chipotle Mexican Grill after “unauthorized activity” impacting its payment processing system was detected.

The recent investigation surrounding the matter is focused on card transactions that occurred from March 24, 2017 to April 18, 2017, according to the notice of data security incident.

Given the status of the investigation, the company cannot share any details tied to the matter at this time. “We anticipate providing notification to any affected customers as we get further clarity about the specific timeframes and restaurant locations that may have been affected,” the statement reads.

The company urges its customers to closely monitor their payment card statements and immediately notify their banks should any unauthorized charges take place.

This marks another setback for the company, following the ecoli outbreak impacting many of its stores in 2015.
