Hackers claiming to be from Iran deface U.S. gov’t website

Just days after President Trump ordered an air strike that killed Iranian Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani, a U.S. government website was defaced by a hacking group claiming to be from Iran.

The hackers defaced the Federal Depository Library Program, fdlp.gov, website with a picture of bleeding Trump as he’s being punched in the face for an Iranian Revolutionary Guard and left a message saying, “in the name of god. >>>>> Hacked By Iran Cyber Security Group HackerS ... ;)<<<<<. This is only small part of Iran's cyber ability ! We're always ready,” the Daily Mail reported.

Iran has vowed revenge for Soleimani’s death and on Sunday, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a bulletin warning against possible retaliation, including cyberattacks.

But officials can’t confirm that the hack was done by Iranian actors. "We are aware the website of the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) was defaced with pro-Iranian, anti-U.S. messaging," said Sara Sendek, a spokesperson for DHS Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) spokeswoman Sara Sendek told CNN. "At this time, there is no confirmation that this was the action of Iranian state-sponsored actors. The website was taken off line and is no longer accessible. CISA is monitoring the situation with FDLP and our federal partners."
