More sophisticated email fraud emerges

Anti-spam company MailFrontier is warning companies that a new phishing technique has surfaced.

According to the secure messaging company, the new scam of choice involves an email that asks the recipient to click on a link, which takes them to a web page that requests various bits of personal information. Experts at MailFrontier suspect that the gathered personal details are used to commit various acts of identity theft, such as credit card fraud.

Unlike previous instances of phishing where the victimized company is able to capture screen shots of the fraudulent site to warn its customers, this newer technique prevents companies from capturing screen shots. As a result, culprits using this method are able to widen their scam's reach.
