Online end-user behavior is a common area to blame when a breach occurs, but according to a recent study, this isn’t too far from the truth.
A new report by user behavior intelligence firm Dtex Systems indicates that 95 percent of enterprises found that employees were actively seeking ways to bypass corporate security protocols.
After analyzing risk assessments across a broad sample of its customer base, the study revealed that “employees were actively researching, installing or executing security or vulnerability testing tools in attempts to bypass corporate security,” according to the Insider Threat Intelligence Report.
Why are employees attempting to skirt security? Of the organizations included in the report, 59 percent shared that employees accessed pornographic websites, while 43 percent shared users were engaging in online gambling activities.
