At a recent talk in Massachusetts, Special Assistant to the president and Cyber Security Coordinator for the White House Rob Joyce discussed the administration’s cybersecurity priorities.
During the talk sponsored by the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council, Joyce cited the recent WannaCry ransomware worm attacks as an example of the government sector needed to bolster its defenses, according to a report by Threat Post, which covered the event.
Joyce’s primary responsibility is tied to carrying out the initiatives highlighted in President Trump’s recently signed executive order, which is aimed at strengthening the cybersecurity of federal networks and critical infrastructure.
Joyce intends to take a “step back” and “manage the federal government’s IT activity as a single enterprise.” Additionally, he spoke about the three main pillars found in President Trump’s cybersecurity executive order.
