Study: Organizations Spend More Than 1k Hours on Endpoint Security

By Marcos Colon

Businesses are spending an incredible amount of time on securing endpoints in the enterprise, and the costs associated with it are adding up.

A new study conducted by the Ponemon Institute and commissioned by security firm Absolute Software polled 556 IT and IT security practitioners responsible for endpoint security in their organization.

“Survey respondents indicated spending an average of 1,156 hours a week to detect and contain insecure endpoints – the equivalent of 28.9 full-time employees spending 100% of their time managing endpoints,” according to the study.

An average of 27,364 endpoints are managed by the businesses featured in the report, more than half of which contain sensitive data.

According to respondents, the endpoints generate more than 600 alerts on a weekly basis, a majority (60%) which are attributed to malware infections.
