A Pittsburgh teen admitted to launching cyberattacks on the Brussels airport just hours after last year's ISIS attacks.
On March 22, 2016, the youth attempted to take down the airport's website just a few hours after two suicide bombers blew themselves up killing more than a 30 people at the Belgium airport, according to the Independent.
Belgium investigators traced the subsequent cyberattacks to Pittsburgh before handing the investigation over to U.S. authorities. Officials reported there was no “terrorist motive” behind the child's cyberattack and that the child was an American citizen.
“The Belgian federal public prosecutor's office therefore wants to emphasize that this case has nothing whatsoever to do with that of the terrorist attacks on 22 March 2016 in Brussels,” an office spokesperson told the publication.
Officials haven't released any more information on the child or their potential motives.
