Cloud access security brokers (CASBs), endpoint detection and response solutions, non-signature approaches for endpoint prevention, user and entity behavioral analytics, microsegmentation and flow visibility, security testing for DevOps made the cut for the Gartner top 10 list of information security technologies that are trending in 2016.
Among the more notable observations:
- According to Gartner, the continued migration of key business processes to cloud-based software-as-a-service providers has underscored the importance of CASBs, which allow CISOs the “opportunity to apply enterprise security policies across multiple cloud services.”
- The sudden proliferation of Internet of Things (IoT) and the increasing dependency on operational technologies are driving the need for pervasive trust services that can manage the needs of billions of devices with limited processing capability.”
- In highlighting the need for behavior analytics as well as non-signature-based endpoint prevention solutions (including memory protection, exploit prevention and machine-based learning), Gartner adds to the growing chorus of experts that believe that traditional signature-based detection and prevention solutions are no longer sufficient in and of themselves.
