No more excuses: how to build a diverse workforce now

For such a vibrant, innovative industry, cybersecurity isn't as diverse and inclusive within the executive ranks as it should be. And some leaders say that reality is to the detriment of the community.

Industry luminaries Camille Stewart from Google, Microsoft’s Edna Conway and former NASA technology chief Jerry Davis will draw on their substantial private and public sector experiences to advise organizations on building a culture that finds, promotes, and retains talented people of color and women during a Sept. 17 RiskSec DIGITAL 2020 session, Building a Culture of Inclusivity: The Diverse Workforce Cybersecurity Needs. Moderated by Parham Eftekhari,  senior vice president and executive director of the Cybersecurity Collaborative, the panel will dissect how diversity ultimately can enhance a company's reputation.

Stewart, appointed by President Barack Obama as the Department of Homeland Security’s senior policy advisor for cyber infrastructure and resilience policy, now serves as Google's head of security policy, Google Play & Android. Microsoft’s Edna Conway oversees the company’s Azure platform as vice president and general manager of global security, risk & compliance. And Davis, the former chief information officer for NASA Ames Research Center, has led enterprise-wide transformation and operational improvement programs for some of the world’s leading government agencies, including the Department of Veterans Affairs.
