What’s new? The number of Ohio residents victimized by the theft of a data storage device on June 10 is now more than 800,000.
What happened? Investigators found the names and Social Security numbers of 561,126 taxpayers while reviewing a copy of the device. The backup had been thought to contain the personal information of 64,000 state employees and 225,000 taxpayers.
What was the response? Affected residents will be notified on how they can sign up for identity theft protection.
