COVID-19 forever changed network security. The pandemic moved people and devices outside the traditional office perimeter, changing security requirements from a centralized network approach to one that relies on protecting identity and data. It also accelerated the use of digital technologies both at work and at home. Both scenarios created a market need for secure, user-friendly authentication powered by passwordless technology.
By making several new innovations this year, the Okta Identity Cloud has risen to the challenge, making it possible for many of Okta’s 9,400 customers to safely navigate this new digital economy and remote work environment.
For workforces, Okta’s FastPass offers passwordless login via biometric factors from any device or location to any Okta-managed app, further streamlining authentication for end-users and increasing productivity. For customers looking to secure digital experiences, the Okta Devices SDK, lets developers seamlessly embed custom and branded passwordless sign-in flows with passwordless capabilities into their mobile applications, simplifying back-end authentication management without compromising the user interface.
Legacy authentication products are difficult to implement and scale: IT teams need to integrate them with each application and system individually. In contrast, the Okta Identity Cloud is available through APIs and the Okta Sign-on Widget, making enrollment, revocation, and authentication easy to implement.
“Okta’s platform-approach offers adaptive, frictionless, authentication solutions for both workforce and customer identity use cases,” said the company in its entry form. “IT can provide workforces simple and secure access to apps and VPNs wherever they work and developers building customer-facing apps don’t have to make security and UI tradeoffs. The most secure experience is the most seamless.”
