Sophos reported today it has acquired the managed detection and response (MDR) firm Rook Security.

The financial details of the deal were not revealed, but Sophos said Rook Security skillset will be used so the company can create a re-sellable MDR services by combining Rook Security’s threat detection, investigation and response capabilities with its recently acquired DarkBytes technology platform.

Sophos’ other plans include integrating its product line with Rook Security’s established services for MDR customers allowing that company’s staff to review Sophos’ customer security postures.

“With MDR, Sophos’ channel partners will be able to provide businesses of all sizes with expert services that continuously detect, hunt for and respond to security incidents,” said Joe Levy, CTO at Sophos, in a statement.
