Intel releases updates for Processor Diagnostic tool and SSD DC S4500/S4600 Series

Intel released updates and security advisories  for its Processor Diagnostic Tool and its SSD DC S4500/S4600 Series products, including a high severity flaw in the Processor Diagnostic Tool that could allow the escalation of privilege, denial of service and information disclosure.

“Improper access control in the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool before version 4.1.2.24 may allow an authenticated user to potentially enable escalation of privilege, information disclosure or denial of service via local access,” researchers said in the release.

The improper access flaw affects the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool for 32-bit before version 4.1.2.24_32bit and the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool for 64-bit before version 4.1.2.24_64bit.

The SSD DC S4500/S4600 Series vulnerability is a “medium” severity rated firmware vulnerability  in Intel Solid State Drives (SSD) for Data Centers (DC) S4500/S4600 Series firmware that may allow escalation of privilege.

The firmware flaw affects Intel SSD DC S4500 Series firmware before SCV10150 and the Intel SSD DC S4600 Series firmware before SCV10150.
