Demand is up for security engineers. Typically, this role is responsible for the testing and assessment of infrastructure and applications.
What it takesProficiency in penetration testing, secure code review, vulnerability assessments and remediation is needed, as is subject matter expertise in areas of authentication, authorization, cryptography and network and application security. It is helpful to understand the UNIX and Windows OS, networking, the TCP/IP protocol and firewalls.
Enterprise programming and scripting languages are a plus. Salaries range from $75k-$90k for juniors to $100k-plus for seniors.
