Recorded Future Security Intelligence Platform v2020

Recorded Future Security Intelligence Platform combines machine learning and human analysis to deliver relevant cyber threat insights in real-time. It aggregates intelligence information from various data sources to facilitate collaboration between security teams.

The home screen offers a tremendous amount of valuable information for vulnerability management and a customizable dashboard for maximized platform flexibility. However, the layout goes against some typical practices that users have come to expect, and we would like to see a few alterations made to some minor design elements. For example, instead of offering the standard left navigation plane, Recorded Future crowds all of its menus at the top right corner of the screen. While this variation certainly does not hinder the performance of the product or our ability to conduct our assessments, it does limit the intuitiveness of the platform. We suggest that the company return to standard practices and align these details with user expectations.

Recorded Future leverages machine learning and natural language processing to index and build ontologies of intelligence gathered from the IPs of over 1 million information sources. IP Address Cards display risk and confidence scores with expanding triggered rules to explain the purposes behind issued alerts. Helpful historical information that can date as far back as 10 years is displayed on each card, offering insights into trends and patterns. The ample threat context contained on these cards aggregates references from multiple sources to offer a holistic overview of specific malware variants.

We really like the Industry Risk View, which analyzes different industry sectors to understand more clearly the particular threat actors that will pose the greatest risk to such sectors and the attack types that they will attempt to use. Analysts may drill into more granular information virtually anywhere in the platform to run advanced queries and obtain detailed results. Recorded Future enables fast extractions for high fidelity scoring, empowering organizations with the ability to adapt to new global situations and gather actionable information. It also streamlines collaboration and information sharing, offering an opportunity for analysts to take notes and include useful details that they can then share with their teams.

Overall, security pros will find Recorded Future Security Intelligence Platform a strong contender in the threat intelligence space, especially considering its robust integration catalogue and fully-documented API. It offers analysts transparency, explaining the reasons behind the threat ratings it issues and supporting these explanations with evidence and details. There are many ways to look at the data it offers and drilldown. While many platforms with a multitude of options become heavy and difficult to navigate, Recorded Future remains easy-to-use for even novice team members. The ease-of-use and advanced capabilities of this platform optimize analyst efficiency and reduce response times, making Recorded Future a powerful and flexible option for organizations looking to add a threat intelligence product to their security stack.

Pricing starts at $19,500 and includes 24/7 phone, email, and website support. Organizations also have access to an excellent knowledgebase with robust and effective documentation, support manuals, and FAQ list. Recorded Future University comes standard and offers users impressive integration how-to videos, a community forum, and a platform tour. Additional support options are available for a fee.
