Cyberoam UTM appliance, the CR200i, offers the full UTM feature set, including a stateful inspection firewall, IPsec VPN, SSL VPN, IPS, gateway anti-virus and anti-spyware, and gateway anti-spam. This appliance also includes a solid web content filter and blocking for applications, such as instant messenger (IM) and peer-to-peer (P2P).

Setup is quite simple and is done using a quick four-step setup wizard, which helps set the IP and network settings and puts an initial policy in place. From there the rest of configuration and management is done through an intuitive web-based administration GUI.
The main dashboard provides an easy-to-read system overview and near real-time statistics on various aspects, such as recent attacks, viruses and web surfing. Policy management is simple as well, and the appliance has many default policies already in place for firewall, IPS and web content filtering.

We found the CR200i tool performed well under our tests. The IPS was able to detect almost all of the attacks. It only dropped a few with the default policy in place. As for integration, this appliance can be integrated with Active Directory, LDAP and RADIUS for policy assignment and user management with the SSL VPN.

Documentation includes a short quick-start guide, which illustrates basic setup and wizard steps, as well as a very detailed user guide. The user guide is in PDF format and provides in-depth advance configuration of the CR200i features. Both guides include a good many screen shots, diagrams and plenty of configuration examples.

Cyberoam provides a free, one-year subscription for eight hours a day/five days a week support with the purchase of the appliance. This includes access to web, phone, email and chat support, along with software upgrades. It also includes access to the knowledge base and the customer support web portal. Additional support options are available on a subscription basis.

At a price just under $3,350, this appliance is a fair value for the money. It brings together a lot of nice features in one easy to use and simple to manage platform, but it still registers at the higher end of the price spectrum.
