Browser security

The easiest way to compromise a corporate network is through a user running a browser application. Additionally, phishing and other social engineering exploits make users susceptible to vulnerabilities from software that has not been patched or updated to the most current version. A larger, underlying problem occurs at the software development stage, where serious browser-based security vulnerabilities can be caused by poor coding of applications. The bottom line: While browser vendors tout one benefit or another in their product, all modern browsers – that are fully updated and patched – basically have similar levels of built-in security. However, all browsers are equally vulnerable, with the biggest vulnerability being the same component: the user. This new ebook on browser security from SC Magazine examines the technology to define the range of challenges and to offer solutions to help IT personnel most effectively safeguard their enterprise networks.
