Amazon issued its first transparency report on Friday with an accompanying blog post on its privacy policies.
Of the 813 subpoenas it received from January 1 through May 31 of this year, the company turned over at least some information in 668 cases, and of the 25 search warrants received, Amazon provided information in 21 cases, the report states.
Amazon received between 0 and 249 national security requests, which have strict reporting limitations and can be reported in bands of 250 if the number accounts for all national security requests, including National Security Letters and FISA orders.
“Amazon does not disclose customer information unless we're required to do so to comply with a legally valid and binding order,” the company wrote in a blog post.
Countries other than the U.S. accounted for 132 requests, the majority of which received some information.
