A 27-year-old American living in Uganda, Ryan Andrew Gustafson, aka Jack Farrel and Willy Clock, has been charged in the U.S. with conspiracy and counterfeiting outside the country's borders, according to an FBI press release.
What began in December 2013 as a Secret Service investigation of counterfeit Federal Reserve Notes (FRNs), believed to be made in Uganda, at stores and businesses in and around Pittsburgh-area retail stores and businesses, eventually led to Gustafson, whose fingerprint was found on a document in a package shipped from Kampala, Uganda to The UPS Store on the South Side of Pittsburgh.
Gustafson was arrested and charged by Ugandan authorities on December 16. U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton said the cooperative effort among law enforcement authorities rejects “the premise that criminals committing cybercrimes in the U.S.—but who reside outside our borders—cannot be reached.”
