Hackers defaced the 2010 FIFA World Cup Wikipedia page this week to hawk pharmaceuticals, researchers at anti-virus firm Sophos said. Those behind the scam were able to edit the page to include a link that redirected users to a Canadian-based pharmacy website, Chester Wisniewski, senior security adviser at Sophos Canada, wrote in a blog post Tuesday. Wikipedia relies on user-generated content, but high-profile pages generally are protected from being modified by anyone, he said. The page has been corrected several times to remove the unwanted message, but those behind the scam keep reverting it back. The page being linked to does not contain malware. — AM
