Qualys partners with Red Hat to secure OpenShift and CoreOS

Thanks to a new partnership with Red Hat, cybersecurity software firm Qualys will introduce its Cloud Agent software to Red Hat OpenShift, the former's specialized Kubernetes distribution system, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux CoreOS, which is an enhanced version of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system, SiliconANGLE reported. The integration is expected to strengthen security on both systems by allowing the CoreOS Cloud Agent for OpenShift to run alongside Qualys' Container Security Runtime to perform continuous detection of vulnerabilities and packages across the entire OpenShift stack. The companies said the partnership also removes the need to operate privileged containers and host-based sidecar management as a safeguard against vulnerability-based attacks, as the Qualys Agent will function in every container wherever it is hosted. The integration also allows for improved inventory management and overview, offers host status tracking and management functions to notify administrators of any new security patches or changes that affect compliance.
