Australian DP World ports resume operations following cyberattack

BBC News reports that major port operator DP World Australia has returned online after operations at its Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney container terminals were disrupted by a cyberattack from Nov. 10 to 13. With the resumption of services following a successful overnight test of key systems, DP World Australia will be able to ship out nearly 5,000 containers across its terminals. Despite significant progress in restoring its systems, investigation into the incident and its perpetrators, as well as the implementation of security-enhancing measures are still underway, according to DP World Australia. "The resumption of port operations does not mean that this incident has concluded. DP World Australia's investigation and ongoing remediation work are likely to continue for some time," said the company. Such an attack has sparked worries about supply chain instability but Australian supermarket chains Woolworths and Coles said that they do not expect any impact stemming from the disruption.
