Changes made to regarding personal data sent to third parties

Changes made to the website have scaled back the amount of consumers' personal data sent to third parties.

Following an Associated Press (AP) report that indicated that the health insurance website was sharing the information of its users with private companies that had “commercial interest” in the information, the Obama administration implemented changes to the site on Friday, according to an AP report.

While officials from the Health and Human Services indicated that the information – which included age, income, ZIP code, tobacco use and whether a woman was pregnant – was not misused and was only shared to make enhancements to the site that benefited consumers, lawmakers and privacy advocates urged for changes to be implemented.

Following an analysis of the website by the AP, changes made have limited the outbound flow of the personal data.
