Cisco unveils expansion to hybrid cloud efforts

As part of efforts to address enterprises’ continuing problems in their shift to a hybrid cloud environment, Cisco Systems unveiled several new offerings designed to deliver “Continuity, Insights, Security, Connectivity and Operations,” the company said during its recent Future Cloud virtual event, according to SiliconANGLE.

The new Cisco Unified Computing System X-Series will serve as the backbone of Cisco’s cloud offerings, with its ability to integrate computing, networking and storage resource to become a centralized management center and updated to allow hybrid operations across several cloud platforms, the company said.

Cisco also unveiled the Intersight Cloud Orchestrator, a low-code automation framework used to speed up delivery of services between networks; Intersight Workload Engine, a new operating system that features software-as-a-service management suited to handle modern, cloud-native workloads; and Cisco Service Mesh Manager, which is an extension to the Intersight Kubernetes Service that offers increased visibility and policy-based security to better manage Kubernetes clusters. The company also unveiled Nexus Dashboard Orchestrator, a service that enables configuration and management of common security policies across Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and multiple on-premises sites.
