Funding round pulls in $84M for Versa Networks

Versa Networks raised $84 million in a Series D funding round, which brings its total raised funds to $196 million, according to CRN.

Versa, formerly an SD-WAN specialist, has found success in the Secure Access Service Edge space with its current offering, an integrated software stack and hardware-agnostic that enables cloud-based, on-premises or combined SASE services, which allow users to implement policies through a single interface. The company’s focus on security in its SD-WAN product helped it to transition easily into SASE, which combines security and networking in its architecture.

Versa Networks CEO Kelly Ahuja said the new funding will be poured into bolstering its marketing and sales teams, enhancing its go-to-market strategy and channel partner initiatives, and increase its workforce to 600 by the end of 2021.

Ahuja said the firm currently has over 5,000 customers, millions of users and 500,000 sites, and still plans to expand its coverage through a doubling of its sales force in the North American, European, LATAM and Asian markets.
