Organizations not doing enough to protect cloud data, study finds

Enterprises are still not being proactive enough in securing the data they have in the cloud, according to a recent study.

A survey taken at the RSA Conference in San Francisco, conducted on the show floor by cloud service provider PerspecSys, features responses from 130 security professionals on their respective organization's approach to securing cloud data.

According to respondents, 66 percent believe that securing information in the cloud is much more difficult than securing any on-premise setups they currently have in place. Additionally, 31 percent shared that they have no security protocols in place for cloud applications, and 28 percent indicated that while employees aren't permitted to access cloud applications, similar to DropBox, they do so anyway.

When asked if their organizations used encryption or tokenization to secure valuable information in the cloud, 34 percent indicated that they use neither.
