Uber simplified privacy policies, specifies data use

Uber has updated its Privacy Statements, rewriting them using less legal jargon and clearer language so that both riders and drivers understand what kind of data the Uber app is requesting from a device and how it will be used, according to a release.

The ride sharing app has also updated its Android and iOS permissions pages to follow the same guidelines. The new permissions pages list every device feature that the application requests to use followed by a brief summary of how the features will be used.

In addition to the simplified language, the company will be changing some of its policies to cover new services and promotional features. The new policies are half as long they were before and will take effect on July 15 of this year.
