EU privacy regulators query Yahoo CEO on breach

Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer was sent a letter from a watchdog group overseeing privacy regulators in the European Union seeking answers on the affect of a massive breach the company experienced, according to telecompaper.

The Article 29 Working Party, a group consisting of representatives from the data protection authority of each EU member state, enquired about details of the data exposed and what the repercussions of the exposure mean. The group also seeks further details on precisely who in each EU country was touched, the steps taken to notify those affected and actions taken to mitigate the vulnerabilities impinging on the privacy rights of affected individuals.

While noting that it was aware that Yahoo had already contacted several EU regulators, the group called on the company to cooperate with regulators and warned that the breach would be a topic on the agenda of the regulator's enforcement group, put together to grapple with breaches.
