Ross Ulbricht, the 29-year-old alleged operator of the Silk Road black market who was busted by the FBI in San Francisco last week, was ordered by a federal judge to be sent to New York to face charges.
Said to have operated under the pseudonym Dread Pirate Roberts, Ulbricht is charged with narcotics trafficking conspiracy, computer hacking conspiracy, and money laundering conspiracy, as well as solicitation of murder. According to reports, Ulbricht's attorney has denied all charges.
Meanwhile, law enforcement in the U.S., Britain and Sweden arrested eight people in connection with Silk Road and seized more than a million dollars in Bitcoin digital currency, according to reports. More related arrests are expected to be announced soon.
