The Internet Security Alliance (ISA) offered guidance to improve U.S. cybersecurity policies at a forum in Cleveland sponsored by the Republican National Committee (RNC).
ISA President Larry Clinton urged lawmakers to treat cybersecurity “with a greater sense of urgency,” saying in a release that the economics of cybersecurity need to be better integrated into policies.
“We need to organize our government on a more digital model,” he said, according to a release. “We need to vastly increase our support for law enforcement to fight cybercrime, and we are going to have to spend more money on this issue.”
The 12-step program Clinton presented at the RNC Cybersecurity Forum also included “more operational” recommendations such as training the focus of government cyber programs on smaller companies, modernizing regulations, creating a cybersecurity compliance model and clarifying what the government's role is in attacks by nation states.
