Austin P. Berglas, assistant special agent in charge of the FBI's cyber branch in New York will take the helm at K2 Intelligence's U.S. Cyber Investigations and Incident Response practice, where he'll be senior managing director and head of the practice, according to a company press release.
At the New York cyber branch of the FBI, the law enforcement agency's largest, Berglas led national security, counterterrorism and criminal cyber investigations there, including the Blackshades malware takedown and the seizures of Silk Road, Silk Road 2.0 and other TOR-based sites. He helped create the Financial Cyber Crimes Task Force in conjunction with the New York City Police Department (NYPD) and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), the first collaboration of the three entities. That task force was established to do battle with cyber threats and high-tech crimes.
